That was a great conference. I don't think it was me who left the table with Kathryn, but we did a panel session on PLNs with Con and Penny C. So maybe it was someone following up on the session.

thanks Steph :)

I wish you well too. How old are your kiddiewinkles?

Twitter is a god-send. I know a guy who knows the guy who started it too, my partner had the first NZ account. Anyway, thank you :)

I'm in the midst of retaining a professional identity while raising kiddiewinkies and and maintaining both roles is exhilarating and exhausting. I love how Twitter can aid in my professional development, and it can connect me to so many wonderful people in my profession. It is a wonderful journey and I wish you well :)

thank you Freya. Reading that article (a good read, totally recommend it for potential leaders) gave me lots of "uh huh uh huh" moments, and then I thought, shit, you come across barriers to being heard everywhere you go. Just gotta keep pushing and evolve as you say :-)

You're a smart cookie.

Thats the most exciting (and scary, and interesting and thrilling and frustrating and and and...) part about the parenting journey.

My journey isn't yours, and yours isn't hers, and theirs isn't ours.

I think having a focus and retaining personal identity are very worthwhile goals, and I hope you find time to explore, experiment, think AND evolve :)

If you bring even half the energy, positivity and commitment to parenting that you've brought to librarianship, your wee one is going to have such an awesome start in life. A baby is such a huge blessing - I hope you and your partner enjoy this new time in your lives.

Your efforts aren't futile Hana. It may seem like this because you are at the vanguard of our profession where others can only aspire to be.

Being on the edge is hard work because very few people have been and stayed. And sometimes it seems as if no-one is paying attention. When another new tool comes along it is unlikely to be "new" to you because you've seen it out on the edge. But for those in the middle, it's a bright new shiny tool. You're pushing boundaries and overcoming obstacles to make it easier for others to develop bright new shiny tools.

It's not easy being on the edge. But in my view, it's definitely more fun than being in the middle.
